The Southern Great Barrier Reef offers visitors the opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the Great Barrier Reef as well as the chance to explore a true coral cay. Unaffected by crown of thorn starfish and relatively low tourist visitor numbers results in the reef remaining in pristine condition. Being the most southern section of the reef it has not been affected by coral bleaching to the extent of areas further north.
Commercial operator permits to Lady Musgrave Island are restricted to limit visitor numbers and to protect the reef.
